His Personal Best

My honey ran the Seattle Marathon this weekend. This was his third marathon and his personal best time. He takes his training very seriously and it was great to see his months of dedication and sacrifice pay off.

Handing off his gloves at Mile 22. Runners are tested at this juncture with a brutal 2 1/2 mile mostly uphill slog.

The finish line. They can still run, but it all falls apart when they try to walk. (His actual time was 3:45:27.)

Happy, but too tired to work up a full smile.

And then he napped. So the Bot joined him of course.

In Memoriam - for my uncle

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep
.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
