When it's More than Just Dance

The best show ever on TV (in my humble opinion) kicked off its 9th season yesterday and I was very moved by the performance below. This guy is a true artist. Hampton Williams, the "Exorcist", on So You Think You Can Dance.

Fierce at Any Age

Advanced Style is both a blog and book dedicated to stylish women over 60. The author, Ari Seth Cohen, first focused only on New York's fashionistas but has now taken his appreciation of older women global. I am thrilled that these ladies are unafraid of flaunting their grey hair and wrinkles. They are infinitely more lovely than the deformed plastic surgery addicts we are accustomed to seeing in the media. We are much too frequently barraged with images of Hollywood women who think that being stylish means rejecting the grace that comes with age.

Below are some of my favorite beauties. They know that being older does not equal being boring. I just love their sartorial wit and sparkle!

I think we have a problem

The Volunteer Park Conservatory which is about 4 blocks from our house held its annual plant sale this weekend. We adopted 6 new leafy friends. We now have a family of 19 deck plants and 20 house plants. I think we might have a problem and need to find a 12 step program.

DIY Painted Rocks

To keep our doors from slamming in the breeze in the summertime, we prop them up with large rocks. However, visitors not privy to this solution often ask "Why do you have rocks on your floor?" It hadn't occurred to me to pretty them up until I saw these beautiful painted stones on Anahata Katkin's blog:
